Dragons of Legend card reveal: Mathematician

A while back, Konami's exhibit at the 2014 International Toy Fair revealed that Mathematician would be in Dragons of Legend (http://lordinvishilwants.blogspot.com/2014/02/8-new-dragons-of-legend-cards-star-pack.html). Today, we have confirmation of its effect from Konami's blog!

Mathematician

In the past, anime cards brought to real life often had to be toned down to avoid creating a flat-out disaster, and still are to this day. But together with other recent reveals from Dragons of Legend like Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight, The Eye of Timaeus, and Kuribandit, Mathematician seems to suggest that Konami is going in a new direction with the anime cards in this set, making them more powerful and playable than they were originally.

So what gives? Personally, I think it could be a sign of the times. Many of the cards coming out in DRLG originally appeared on TV multiple years ago, so making them relevant to the modern state of the game does actually require a power buff in many cases. And we can pretty much all agree that a set full of nostalgic cards that are now powerful enough to see mainstream play is much more appealing to your typical consumer than a set full of faithful adaptations that nobody cares very much about buying because they just aren't important enough to use.
